2012 Annual Fair

The 2012 Annual Fair will take place at Chatsworth House in Chatsworth, Bakewell, Derbyshire, on Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th September.

Details about the fair are not yet available from Lilliput Lane.

Chatsworth House

The first house at Chatsworth was built by 'Bess of Hardwick' and her second husband, Sir William Cavendish. They bought the manor of Chatsworth in 1549 and began to build in 1552. The Hunting Tower, created in the 1580s, still stands on the hill behind Chatsworth. The Chatsworth House Trust, a charitable foundation set up by the 11th Duke of Devonshire to help ensure for the public benefit the preservation of the house, its essential contents, the garden and the park, has run Chatsworth House since 1981.

2011 Annual Fair and Swap and Sell

The 2011 Annual Fair took place at Burghley House near Stamford, Lincolnshire, on Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th September.

This yearly event had plenty for enthusiasts of Lilliput Lane to see and do, including a Swap and Sell hosted by us, product demonstrations, competitions, staff to meet and chat to as well as having a go at casting and painting your own figurines. The Lilliput Lane event exclusive figurines, Burghley Park Boathouse and The Bottle Lodges, Burghley Park were available to pre-order and pick on the day. Entertainment included the Stamford Clog Dancers, chainsaw woodcarving demonstrations and equine performances.

Burghley House

The magnificent Burghley House is one of the largest and grandest houses of the first Elizabethan Age. Built and largely
designed by William Cecil, Lord High Treasurer to Queen Elizabeth I, between 1555 and 1587, the main part of the house
has thirty-five major rooms on the ground and first floors. There are more than eighty lesser rooms and numerous halls,
corridors, bathrooms and service areas. The lead roof extends to three quarters of an acre, the restoration and rebuilding
of which began in 1983, taking nearly ten years to complete. Visitor facilities include the Orangery Restaurant, Gift Shop,
Garden of Surprises and beautiful walks around the historic parkland laid out by Capability Brown and still occupied by a
herd of fallow deer.
